A U.S. Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Sector North Bend, Ore., hoists a distressed surfer near Depoe Bay, Ore., Dec. 30, 2013.

The surfer was transported to Coast Guard Air Facility Newport, Ore., and placed in the care of local EMS.
