ASTORIA, Ore. - The Coast Guard rescues a woman from a cliff at Tillamook Head, near Astoria, Ore., Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011. Coast Guard Sector Columbia River received a report at 8:35 a.m., from Seaside, Ore., emergency dispatch of a female who fell while hiking in an area known as Tillamook Head.
An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew, from Air Station Astoria, was launched to the scene, as was a High Angle Rescue Team from Seaside Fire Department.
A Coast Guard rescue swimmer was lowered, secured the woman in a harness, then hoisted her into the helicopter. She was transported to the Astoria Airport where local emergency medical personnel treated her for minor scrapes and bruises before being released.
