ASTORIA, Ore. - The Coast Guard rescued a surfer in distress off Indian Beach in Ecola State Park near Cannon Beach, Ore., Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010.

Coast Guard Air Station Astoria diverted an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew to the scene at approximately 4:00 p.m.

The surfer was airlifted and dropped off at the Ecola State Park parking area where Cannon Beach Fire and Rescue loaded him onto an ambulance and transported him to Providence Seaside Hospital in Seaside, Ore.
