  • CAMP BUEHRING, Kuwait – Since April, Alpha Company, 1-207th Aviation Regiment has endured harsh conditions that few Alaskans will ever experience with daily high temperatures exceeding 100 degrees for five months straight with many days exceeding 120 degrees.  

These Alaska Army National Guard Soldiers and their UH-60 “Black Hawk” helicopters are deployed with the 36th Combat Aviation Brigade (CAB) to the Middle East in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.  Their mission is to provide security to the region and build partnerships with countries that will further long-term stability in and around the Arabian Gulf.

  • B-Roll video footage of the 449th Aviation Support Battalion, which is deployed to the Middle East with the 36th Combat Aviation Brigade (Texas Army National Guard).  Video includes 449th Soldiers doing convoy training, maintaining and refueling helicopters, working on the USS Ponce in the Arabian Gulf, and an interview with Lt. Col. Bradford Hughes, the 449th ASB Battalion Commander.
  • B-Roll video footage of UH-60 “Black Hawk” helicopters from C Company, 2nd Battalion, 238th General Support Aviation Battalion conducts hoist training off of U.S. Army Vessel SP/4 James A. Loux (LSV-6) in the Arabian Gulf.  Additional video footage show US Navy Sailors being hoisted from the gulf simulating a recovery operation.  The specialized training prepares MEDEVAC crews to extract patients while at sea.  The 2-238th includes Soldiers from both the Indiana and Kentucky Army National Guard and is currently deployed to the Middle East with the 36th Combat Aviation Brigade.   • In this video, released by the 36th Combat Aviation Brigade, Soldiers with B Co., 1-149th Attack Reconnaissance Battalion bid farewell to their families and loved ones as they prepare for mobilization to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. The event, held at the Ellington Air Field Armed Forces Reserve Center in Houston, Texas, marks the final homestation event for the aviators who will take on new ground and air missions overseas.
