Sgt. Robert Keifer and Spc. Michael Sands, 2013 Military District of Washington's Non-commissioned Officer and Soldier of the Year, were honored at FedEx Field today by the Washington Redskins. Story:The National Guard has chosen this year’s region six best warriors.  Representatives from the states of Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, south Dakota and Wyoming, traveled to Gown Field in Boise,Idaho earlier this week to compete in the 2012 national guard region six best warrior competition.  Specialist Ryan Johnson from the 41st infantry brigade combat team of Oregon was selected as the winner of the best soldier division and army Staff Sgt. Michael Bautista from the 116th cavalry brigade combat team of Idaho was selected as the winner of the non-comissioned officer division.  Soldiers competed throughout the week in various events measuring their abilities in areas such as land navigation, weapons marksmanship, physical fitness, warrior tasks and skills, and general military knowledge and appearances.  Specialist Johnson and Staff Sergeant Bautista will go on to compete at the national level of this event to be held at Fort Benning, Georgia in July. Winners at fort Benning will represent the entire National Guard at the department of the army level competition held at Fort Lee, Virginia later this year.
