On Friday, August 23rd, Minot air force base officially opened its new base operations building and control tower. The new buildings are a substantial upgrade to their predecessors, which stood for more than 56 years, with more space, better facilities, and an improved view of the runway.

The visibility, from what I’ve seen so far working at this facility is just... Ten times better. The space in the cab, in the old facility with five people you were crowded. Upstairs now we could have twelve to fifteen, and everybody's got enough space.
The ops building and tower aren't the only improvements on Minot, there's also the runway and dormitory construction, and senator Hoven highlighted the importance of the upgrades.
Senator Hoven
It is very, very important that as we make those changes, that the minot air force base with its dual nuclear mission of b-52 and missiles remains a vital, robust, well funded, well supported part of our military, now and for generations to come.
The ceremony concluded with the cutting of the ribbon commemorating the new buildings. From Minot air force, I’m airman Sean Danker-Smith. Available in High Definition.
