A summer program, FERL, (Field Engineering Readiness Laboratory), cadets in the civil engineering program spend three weeks in a hands on, learn as you go outdoor classroom which includes heavy equipment operations, material testing, surveying, and structural design and building. Computer science includes work in cyber-warfare defense and network administration. Weather courses are offered and provide a chance to launch an atmospheric monitoring balloon. FalconSat is a unique program offered to all cadets at the Academy, a chance to be involved in design, build, testing, and operations of an orbiting satellite.
