  • B-Roll of US and Chinese militaries working together during a disaster management exchange at Marine Corps Training Area-Bellows in Hawaii.  The two militaries exchanged information about how each country responds to natural disasters and carries out humanitarian assistance.  The exchange has been taking place since 2005, but this was the first time it included a field portion.  The soldiers worked on search and rescue operations in an urban environment after a simulated earthquake.  Chinese and American military leadership observed the final day of the exchange.  Soldiers were from the People's Liberation Army and the Hawaii Army National Guard.  Soundbites are from Major General Gary Hara, Deputy Commanding General of the Hawaii Army Nat'l Guard, and Rear Admiral Li Ji, Deputy Director of Chinese Ministry of Defense's Foreign Affairs Office.   • B-roll of opening ceremony for the 9th annual US-China Disaster Management Exchange at Marine Corps Training Area-Bellows in Hawaii.  US Army-Pacific hosted 60 People's Liberation Army personnel who will exchange information with their US counterparts during the three-day event.  Exchange also included American and Chinese personnel familiarizing each other with search and rescue equipment used during disaster relief, as well as academic exchanges on response to disasters.  The event is designed to enhance the ability of US and Chinese forces to work together bilaterally when responding to humanitarian assistance and disaster relief in the Asia-Pacific.   • Report about the U.S. Coast Guard District 14 conducting a search and rescue exercise with the People's Republic of China's Maritime Safety Administration (MSA).  The exercise took place off the coast of Oahu and involved the Chinese MSA vessel Haixun-31, the USCG Cutter Galveston Island, and helicopter crews from the Haixun-31 and Coast Guard Air Station Barber's Point.  The two countries responded to rescue scenario in which a person was stranded in the water.  This was the Haixun-31's first visit to American waters. Available in high definition.
