Major Gen. James C. Boozer Sr., formally assumed command of U.S. Army Japan and I Corps (Forward) during an assumption of command ceremony held Aug 6th. General Vincent K. Brooks, Commanding General of U.S. Army Pacific headquartered at Ft. Shafter, Hawaii, passed the USARJ and I Corps (Forward) flags to Maj. Gen. Boozer who became the 35th general to head the command. The ceremony was held inside the U.S. Army Aviation Battalion Japan hangar before a crowd of about 300 Japanese and American military and civilian dignitaries, civilian employees and family members.
