Hawaii National Guard Soldiers portray their role as medics and search and recovery professionals while serving as extras in an upcoming major motion picture in Waikiki.

When disaster strikes the National Guard is often there to help whether it be in search and rescue, medical care, or security. Recently twenty-eight Hawaii Army Guardsmen demonstrated their role in an actual disaster, as extras in the upcoming production of Godzilla being filmed partly in Waikiki. The Soldiers were hired as extras to portray rescuers in a scene that depicts a catastrophic aftermath. A film spokesman stated that they like to get actual Military members to serve a extras because they need less coaching and look “right” on camera.
