A press conference was held on Friday, June 28, 2013 at the Kentucky Speedway to announce that Hendrick Motorsports driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr.. would drive with a special paint scheme for the race with the logo of the National Guard Youth Foundation. The goal of both Hendrick Motorsports and the foundation was to bring a heightened sense of awareness to the dropout rate of America's teens and to highlight a proven success story in the National Guard Challenge Program.
