Lieutenant Col. Robert C. Rice, the new commanding officer of 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, describes his feelings and thoughts on becoming the commander. Rice previously served as the executive officer of the battalion during deployment to Fallujah, Iraq, from 2007 through 2008.
