Lieutenant General Joseph Lengyel, visits El Salvador to observe the current state of Beyond the Horizon - El Salvador, 2013. A U.S. Southern Command sponsored joint foreign military interaction and humanitarian exercise occurring until late June. The purpose of the visit is for Lengyel to confirm the validity of the National Guard State Partnership Program (SPP), a United States Department of Defense program managed by the National Guard that links U.S. States with partner countries around the world.
