  • Some service men and women are lucky to find their calling in life. One Kentucky Chaplain found it twice and is helping new Soldiers transform their lives. Casey Luster, Patriot Academy student, Georgia Army National Guard. NOTE:  Ch. Swisher joined the U.S. Army Chaplains Corps after intercession by the Kentucky Congressional Delegation (U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell, U.S. Rep. Brett Guthrie and U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield). Earlier this year, Swisher became the newest, "oldest" chaplain in the Army National Guard. Also available in high definition

Description:  Pfc. Christian E. Maerz from Indianapolis, Indiana discusses his experience as a high school student at the National Guard Patriot Academy at the Muscatatuck Urban Training Complex in Butlerville, Ind. Maerz is a graduate of the last class of the Patriot Academy which began as a pilot program in 2009 to offer a second chance to new recruits to earn their high school diplomas and serve their country.  The program will case its organizational colors in January, 2013.

Maerz is a member of the Indiana Army National Guard's 113th Medical Supply Battalion, Charlie Company. Available in high definition.
