An 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade MEDEVAC helicopter team practices maneuvers on a moonless night. Scenes of helicopter flying, landing, taking off, and flight medics descending and ascending from helicopter via hoist cable. All shot in night vision. 82nd CAB MEDEVACs are stationed on six Forward Operating Bases across Regional Command-East, and regularly perform this type of training, simulating some of the worst night conditions they may face while rescuing injured soldiers. Hoist extractions are most often used when obstacles such as tall trees, buildings, or rugged terrain prevent helicopters from landing. In the mountainous terrain spread across most of RC-East, medics face difficult terrain frequently. Pilot and medic interviews available. Also available in high definition.
