  • Since March 22, Herat City has been in a transitional period, a status very evident when visiting the Herat Regional Medical Hospital, an Afghan National Army run hospital on Camp Zafar, Herat, Afghanistan.  Roughly 160 Afghans encompass the medical staff at HRMH and the hospital has the capability to treat 100 patients simultaneously in a variety of wards, with surge capability up to 200 in an emergency situation.   • B-roll of a new school was opened in Herat City, Herat Province, Afghanistan Mar. 17, 2011. The school will educate 1,000 male and 500 female students starting Mar. 21, 2011. The Italian Provincial Reconstruction Team build the school funded by U.S. Commanders Emergency Response Program funds.   • Nearly 1,000 women attended a Women's Day celebration in the city center of Herat, Herat Province, Afghanistan on Mar. 8, 2011. Influential Afghan women and coalition partners discussed progression of Afghan women as well as the challenges they face. Additionally, a women's business and social center was opened. The center is designed to help all Afghan women with social, business and health issues. The building team was led by the Italian Provincial Reconstruction Team. Includes interviews with Wamida Samadi Qalam, Women's Association of Herat province, Larissa Wazari, Herat resident and Col. Antonino Inturri, Italian PRT commander.
