News Stories US Marines, Australian Defence Force share history through unit patch The unit patch of one Australian Defence Force outfit reflects a history of shed blood with the U.S. Marines.
The patch, which incorporates elements of the U.S. 1st Marine Division logo, is in part due to Damien Parer and his sacrifice one bloody day during World War II. One of a kind: US and Australian forces excel during Talisman Sabre 2011 Nearly 22,000 U.S. and Australian troops trained together during Talisman Sabre 2011 (TS11) at Shoalwater Bay Training Area, Queensland, Australia, one of Australia’s largest training facilities from July 11 to 29.
TS11 is a biennial joint international training exercise aimed at improving and validating the Australian Defense Force and United States combat readiness as a combined joint task force. The exercise left participants with a better understanding of how each country operates and how they can benefit from their differences.
