Long Island Citizen Airmen Join Hunt for Missing Sailor
The New York Air National Guard's 106th Rescue Wing has joined the search for a missing Canadian solo sailor who was supposed to arrive in Bermuda on Monday, Nov. 16.

27th Brigade Soldier Spearheads Veterans Outreach Effort
With the Frankfort-Schuyler High School Band performing the Army Song, World War II veteran Kathleen Murphy Brooks cut the yellow ribbon at the Central New York Veteran's Outreach Center in downtown Utica, Nov. 11. The opening of the center marked the beginning of a new front in a two-year-long campaign for another Utica combat veteran, New York Army National Guard Sgt. Vincent Scalise.

State's largest emergency response exercise deemed overwhelming success
The state's largest joint military and civil authority emergency response exercise concluded Nov. 5 in Western New York where more than 1,300 National Guard troops along with hundreds of civilian emergency response professionals have been simulating an earthquake disaster since Oct. 30.
