Patrons of the Combat Outpost Shocker Morale, Welfare and Recreation Center have a new game system to take their minds off being deployed this holiday season.
Instead of spending the holiday missing home, two cooks in 41st Fires Brigade prepared Thanksgiving meals for their brothers-in-arms at joint security stations in Wasit Province.
On Saturday afternoons, a fenced-in patch of land outside Camp Victory becomes a ground for children to play and participate in their community. 
Ted Landry was working for the Department of Homeland Security when he was recalled to active duty. Landry retired from his military career in 1995, but found himself traveling to Iraq as a liaison between the Army and Air Force Exchange System and the Department of Defense.
Every Soldier expects something different of their first deployment. Some anticipate and even hope for danger; some plan for real sacrifice, a near total lack of comforts.
