The All-Marine team competed in the cycling competition at the 2012 Warrior Games aboard the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., May 1. The Marines swept the men's open. Staff Sgt. Nathan Lynch, from Vancouver, Washington, Sgt. Cogen Nelson of Clermont, Calif., and Marine veteran Brian McPherson of Nashport, Ohio 30 kilometer open. Capt. Jonathon Disbro of San Jose, Calif., won silver in the men's handicap open. Lance Cpl. Levi Marshal of Covington, Wash., won the gold in the recumbent cycle, and Cpl. Justin Gaertner of New Port Richey won the silver in the handycycle competition. The Warrior Games is a paralympic-style competition for wounded, ill or injured service members. More than 200 athletes from the Marine Corps, Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force and Army will compete. The United Kingdom is competing for the first time in the Game's three-year history. The Marines will defend their title and will compete against the Army, Navy and Coast Guard, Air Force and Special Operations Command for the Warrior Games Chairman's Cup. Cpl. Kionte Storey from Stockton, Calif., will compete in the 2012 Warrior Games in Colorado Springs, Colo., April 30-May 5. The 23-year old Edison High School graduate will compete in track and field and swimming. Storey was injured in Afghanistan while serving with 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines, in September 2012. He stepped onto an improvised explosive device, causing him to lose his right leg below the knee. He is currently assigned to Wounded Warrior Battalion West at the Naval Medical Center San Diego Detachment. He is accompanied by his service dog, "Koja." Storey said he is honored and inspired to compete with other wounded, ill and injured Marines against other branches of service. He also said that training for the competition helped him get into better shape and hopes to make it to the Paralympics. "it feels good to train with other Marines who also have the uplifting spirit to continue to push despite their injuries." More than 200 wounded, ill or injured service members from the Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and Special Operations Command are scheduled to compete in the Paralympic-style competition. Cpl. Anthony McDaniel, from Pascagoula, Miss., will compete in the 2012 Warrior Games in Colorado Springs, Colo., April 30-May 5. McDaniel, 26, will compete in track and field and wheelchair basketball. McDaniel is a combat wounded bilateral amputee and partial hand amputee. His injuries are a result of an improvised explosive device blast in Afghanistan in August 2010. He's currently recovering at Naval Medical Center San Diego. More than 200 wounded, ill or injured service members from the Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and Special Operations Command are scheduled to compete in the Paralympic-style competition.
