After six months in Afghanistan, Marines and sailors from Engineer Company, Combat Logistics Battalion 6, 2nd Marine Logistics Group return to Camp Lejeune, N.C., Jan. 31, 2012. Families and friends were there to greet them as they stepped off the bus. The majority of the company was comprised of reserve Marines with 4th Marine Logistics Group mainly from Battle Creek, Mich.

Two monitors sit in the 2nd Marine Logistics Group (Forward) conference room, where Staff Sgt. Derek A. Smoak, a tactical vehicle license examiner, was promoted Feb. 1, 2012, aboard Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan. The monitors along with a web camera were used to allow his wife, Michelle L. Smoak, witness her husband’s promotion and award ceremony through a teleconference call.
