News Stories HMLAT-303 prepare Marines for the flight line
Camp Pendleton’s skies wouldn’t be as exciting if Marine Light Attack Training Squadron 303 wasn’t on the job, training Marines every day.
On a normal day in the hangar of HMLAT-303, some Marines conduct or receive training, some repair helicopters and others direct traffic on the flightline. Outside the hangar, the squadron’s helicopters constantly conduct flight missions and undergo training scenarios.

 'ReEntry' - Play teaches Marines about returning home
Marines and family members with I Marine Expeditionary Force gathered to watch a play at the South Mesa Club at Camp Pendleton, Calif., Jan. 24.
“ReEntry” is a play written by theater writer Emily Ackerman and KJ Sanchez, CEO of American Records, based on interviews conducted with Marines returning from Iraq and Afghanistan and their family members.

 USMC helicopter pilots honored 9 years after death in Iraq
Friends, family and fellow service members gathered for a memorial dedication for fallen Marines Capt. Ben Sammis and Capt. Travis Ford at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif., Jan. 21.
Sammis and Ford, helicopter pilots with Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 267, Marine Aircraft Group 39, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, Camp Pendleton, Calif., were killed during Operation Iraqi Freedom when their AH-1W Super Cobra helicopter crashed near Ali Aziziyal, Iraq, April 5, 2003.

The Seconds Lady of the United States, Dr. Jill Biden, visited with Camp Pendleton-based Marines and sailors on Friday, Jan. 20. During Dr. Biden's visit, she observed Marines at the INfantry Immersion Trainer, a state-of-the-art training complex that simulates what Marines could expect to see in Afghanistan. Dr. Biden toured Explosive Ordnance Disposal facilities and spoke with Marines and families who will soon deploy. Lastly, Dr. Biden toured and visited with Marines and their families at Wounded Warrior Battalion-West, a command dedicated to providing non-medical care for wounded, ill and injured Marines and their families as they return to duty or transition to civilian life.
