News Stories Florida aviators provide support from the air on last day of Iraq war
As the last remaining military forces in Iraq crossed the Iraqi border into Kuwait in the early morning of Dec. 18, 2011, soldiers from the Florida National Guard’s 1st Battalion, 111th Aviation Regiment were right there with them. Their mission was to provide security for the ground convoys from the air, ensuring all U.S. service members exited Iraq safely.

 Florida National Guard participates in regional communications exercise
Florida Guardsmen joined communications experts from local emergency response agencies at Camp Blanding Joint Training Center recently to test their ability to communicate with each other during disasters. The exercise, aptly named “Operation Communicate Freedom,” is one of a series of exercises being conducted across the state of Florida to test interoperable communications.
