John McHugh was sworn in as the 21st Secretary of the Army today following his nomination by President Barack Obama and confirmation by the U.S. Senate.


841ST ENGINEER BATTALION TO HOLD WELCOME HOME CEREMONY IN HONOR OF RETURNING SOLDIERS
The 841st Engineer Battalion will hold a welcome home ceremony September 27, 2008, at 5 p.m., honoring the Soldiers who have returned home from deployment to Iraq. The ceremony will be held at Northwest Miami High School, 1100 NW 71st Street, Miami, Fla. 33150, with Col. Craig Sanders, commander of the 926th Mission Support Element Brigade, presiding over the festivities.

About 3,400 people gathered to witness the first Navy vessel commissioning ceremony ever to take place in Key West, despite the island being a base for naval operations since the 1820s. The Spruance is a multi-mission ship that carries Tomahawk cruise missiles, a 5-inch gun, sonar and two helicopters. It is capable of speeds in excess of 30 knots. Available in HD.
