 Charleston ILA Longshoremen Awarded for Military Sealift Support
The Charleston International Longshoremen's Association was recognized by the local military seaport unit, the 841st Transportation Battalion, with an award ceremony for their outstanding terminal support of military sealift operations during the Global War on Terror. The ceremony was held June 24, 2008, at the military cargo pier in Charleston, SC, prior to a military sealift operation.

The historic U.S. Army Vessel Maj. General Robert Smalls, named after the prominent African American civil war hero that served as a Maj. General in the South Carolina militia, docked at a downtown Charleston cargo pier for a community relations and public affairs event on June 24.

 Savannah Marines Earn Army Achievement Medals for Army Sealift Support
Approximately 40 Marines of the 2nd Beach and Terminal Company, 4th Landing Support Battalion, Savannah, Ga, took part in an awards ceremony on June 3, 2008, that recognized two of their Marines, Lance Cpl. A. J. Banks and Lance Cpl. J.T. Brown, with Army Achievement Medals for army seaport operations over the last nine months.
