News Stories Operators certified under 115th Regional Support Group Driver's Course Thirty-one additional California Army National Guardsmen are now vowed to the military transportation's unofficial adage: If nothing moves, nothing happens. 12.9.11 Story by Spc. Edward Siguenza
California Army National Guard soldier rests eternally Gripping a United States flag, one of nearly 70 peacefully flying as the casket of Spc. Sean Michael Walsh marched by, Greg Grace unnoticeably reached out his free hand. 12.3.11 Story by Spc. Edward Siguenza
Fallen service members memorialized at their respective high schools High schools have played a critical role in their communities and in the upbringing of many individuals. Most high school graduates grow and do greater things with their lives beyond their high school education. Some even join the military. Thus, in a sense, whenever a service member becomes a casualty in an armed conflict, a piece of that service member’s high school community, or a sense of its identity, is lost. 11.5.11 Story by Sgt. David Choi
California National Guard's combined arms battalion displays their might in the Mojave Desert In the immense barren landscape of the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, Calif., hulking armored machines belonging to the California Army National Guard’s 1st Battalion, 185th Armor Battalion, grind and clank as their heavy steel tracks churn up the Mojave Desert. The sharp cracks of M4 Carbine rifles echo off the surrounding hills. These noises blended with a biting wind and pouring rain were the sights and sounds that flooded the senses, as citizen-soldiers from the Golden State sent volleys of bullets down range during weapons qualification and ripped up the terrain in their Bradley Fighting Vehicles running maneuver exercises. 11.5.11 Story by Spc. Nevada Smith
California’s National Guard Homeland Response Force helps form a team of Death Dealers during 2011 Vigilant Guard Arizona They’re the last in line in any catastrophe, but the first to be relied upon to bring closure.
During the 2011 Arizona Statewide Vigilant Guard Exercise in Phoenix, National Guard Airmen from California and the host state united to form a critical supporting element: a Fatality Search and Recovery Team (FSRT). 11.4.11 Story by Spc. Edward Siguenza
