Ali Base, the first Air Force base in Iraq, is in full drawdown mode following directives following the President's directive to lessen the American military presence in Iraq, and to withdraw combat forces by December 2011.
Firefighters from the 407th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron are bringing the goal of independent Iraqi operations to reality.
Navy Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, visited Ali Base Dec. 18 during his tour of bases throughout Southwest Asia.
