Four soldiers receive Purple Hearts in KuwaitFour soldiers receive Purple Hearts in Kuwait
With the sun shining bright in the cool November air, soldiers of the 1149th Forward Support Company, 1st Battalion, 149th Infantry Regiment, 310th Expeditionary Sustainment Command gathered outside their tents. On this day, they came together to honor four of their own soldiers with the Purple Heart, a decoration that can only be earned by sustaining injuries in combat.

Operation Bunk BedOperation Bunk Bed
The United States’ mission in Iraq is coming to an end, and for most troops heading out of theater, the journey ends following a pit stop in Kuwait. Soldiers from the 310th Expeditionary Sustainment Command embarked on a mission to help provide those soldiers relocating to Camp Buehring, Kuwait, with a better quality of living by offering bunk beds to replace the standard cots found in most spartan living quarters.

Escort team conducts its largest escort mission
The skies were unusually dusty at 11 a.m., even by Iraq standards, as the soldiers of Convoy Escort Team 4, 2nd Platoon, Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 149th Infantry Regiment, 77th Sustainment Brigade, 310th Expeditionary Sustainment Command ran through their pre-mission preparations Oct. 1 at Joint Base Balad, Iraq.

Inheriting the call to service
For 1st Sgt. Chad Emery of Forward Support Company, 1st Battalion, 149th Infantry Regiment, 77th Sustainment Brigade, 310th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, a native of Pineville, Ky., military service seems to run in his blood. Over the span of his 22-year career, he has served for the same units his father and great-grandfather served in before him.

Father and son team up to go outside the wireFather and son team up to go outside the wire
As soldiers complete their pre-mission checks and get everything loaded for transport, it would seem the job of escorting supply trucks from Joint Base Balad to Contingency Operating Site Mosul is just another mission for the Soldiers of Delta Company, 1st Battalion, 149th Infantry Regiment, 77th Sustainment Brigade, 310th Expeditionary Sustainment Command.
