News Stories 'Prime Beef craftmanship and dedication' Recently the Engineers of Task Force Forager constructed over 7000 square feet of office space in support of coalition forces operating in Kandahar province, Afghanistan. In a challenging environment, 15 airmen of the U.S. Air Force’s 777th Expeditionary Prime Beef Squadron used their master craftsmanship skills to provide much needed additional office space. The new spaces will greatly aid coalition forces in the neutralization of insurgent forces and provide improved governance and stability for the people of Kandahar province, Afghanistan. 11.16.11 Courtesy Story
The 'Go To' on MRAPs Seabees attached to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 1 Detachment Camp Moreell conducted an MRAP licensing class Oct. 20. The class was taught at Camp Moreell in Kuwait and produced 6 new MRAP qualified drivers. MRAP is short for Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle and is one of the most secure ground transportation vehicles available. They are used to transport personnel and escort convoys in Iraq and Afghanistan. 11.14.11 Courtesy Story
NMCB 1, making name in Regional Command West Seabees from TICT One, currently deployed to RC-West, Afghanistan, are building, expanding and improving Forward Operating Bases and Combat Outposts throughout the Area of Operation. Seventeen Seabees from Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 1, work as a team on projects such as, placing concrete pads, construction South West Asia Huts, power distribution, and facilities maintenance. The team constantly pushes forward, working in adverse conditions, including limited supplies and multiple language barriers. 11.14.11 Story by Petty Officer 1st Class Aron Taylor
'Task Force Rugged' making a difference in Helmand province The 14th Engineer Battalion, also known as Task Force Rugged, has been in Afghanistan for over two months now and is already making a difference in the lives of Afghans. Task Force Rugged not only provides freedom of movement for coalition forces on major highways, it also supports additional efforts aimed at improving the lives of Afghan citizens. For the past two weeks, Rugged route clearance platoons have been integral to the success of Operation Wheat Seed, an initiative aimed at distributing wheat seed and fertilizer to area farmers. 11.8.11 Story by Chief Petty Officer Jared Young
