'Black Jack' tankers hit the range hard
The booming sounds of mobile armor bombard the ears of Soldiers from the various companies that make up 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, at Sugarloaf Multi-Use Range on Oct. 22, 2008. The Soldiers are on the range once again in preparation for their coming deployment to Iraq. (10/22/08)

When Pvt. Zachary Brush, from Boca Raton, Fla., and Houston native, Pfc. Miguel Noyola, both of Battery B, 3rd Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, were asked to stand by in their barracks rooms on the morning of Aug. 19. 2008, little did they know they were about to be featured in a welcome video for Fort Hood. Black Smiths hope for speedy recovery
A dead-lined vehicle is not a good thing for most units, but there’s a group of Soldiers in the 2nd Brigade Combat Team’s Service and Recovery shop who make sure every vehicle is expeditiously recovered so it can be sent back out the to the fight.

Red Dragons make home on the range with families
When Sgt. Waldemar Ruiz and his family decided to come back into the Army in 2006, after a break in service, his two, young boys didn’t get much of an opportunity to get fully integrated as Army “brats.”
