Recent Video Machine Gun Training
Marines with the Combat Logistics Battalion 24, 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit and Charlie Company, Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 24th MEU, spent the day firing M-240B medium machine guns and M-249 squad automatic weapons off the back of Internally Transportable Vehicles on the USS Gunston Hall’s flight deck, Feb. 3, 2012. The training took place during the 24th MEU’s Certification Exercise (CERTEX) with Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group Jan. 27 to Feb. 17, which includes a series of missions intended to evaluate and certify the unit for their upcoming deployment.  Resupply at Sea
USS Iwo Jima ñ Marines and Sailors with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit and Amphibious Squadron 8, conduct replenishment at sea Feb. 3, 2012. Food and supplies were brought aboard by a AS332 Puma helicopter to resupply the ship while underway off the coast of North Carolina conducting training. The 24th MEU is conducting their Certification Exercise (CERTEX) with Amphibious Squadron 8 scheduled Jan. 27 to Feb. 17, which includes a series of missions intended to evaluate and certify the unit for their upcoming deployment.  Night Raid Operations Training
B-roll of Marines and Sailors with Charlie Company, Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit conduct a simulated raid with support from the 24th MEU’s Combat Logistics Battalion 24 and Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron VMM-261 (Reinforced) as the final training event during their Realistic Urban Training exercise near Farmville, Va., Jan. 19, 2012. The raid tested the 24th MEU’s abilities to integrate all the tools of the Marine Air Ground Task Force to neutralize a mock terrorist training camp and was the culminating event for RUT, which focuses on conducting training missions at off-base locations in unfamiliar terrain. The exercise serves to prepare and certify the Marines and Sailors of the 24th MEU for the various operations they may conduct during their upcoming deployment. Produced by Lance Cpl. Tucker S. Wolf.

The reconnaissance Marines executed the raid with Security Platoon, Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 24th MEU, as part of the 24th MEU’s Realistic Urban Training (RUT) exercise scheduled Jan. 5-20, which focuses on preparing for the various operations they may conduct while deployed.
