Arctic Wolves adapt to changing mission The 2011 fighting season is over in Afghanistan, and U.S. forces are adjusting their mission, all the way down to platoon level operations, to reflect the resulting change in focus. William Montgomery, Task Force Arctic Wolves’ Afghan National Security Forces Development non-commissioned officer in charge, talks with Winn Mete, the host of radio show "Base Alpha-Kilo," about the Afghan National Army Operation Hope Hero 58 and the success of the Afghan Security Forces in Panjwa’i district, Kandahar province, Afghanistan. The 1st Brigade, 205th Afghan National Army Corps, conducted their first independently planned and executed operation Dec. 17-23, 2011. The operation included Afghan Uniformed Police, Afghan National Defense Services and Afghan National Civil Order Police. Afghan forces discovered IEDs, weapons and illegal narcotics during the operation, but most of all, they earned the trust of the local residents.
