Marines and Japanese soldiers conducted helo-dunking egress training Marines and Japanese soldiers conducted helo-dunking egress training, simulated casualty drills and abandon ship techniques from a 10-meter platform during Exercise Iron Fist 2012, at the Camp Horno pool, Jan 28. Iron Fist is a bi-lateral training exercise between the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit and the Japanese Ground Self Defense Force.

Recon Marines, Japanese soldiers helo cast into the Pacific Marines with 1st Reconnaissance Battalion and Japanese soldiers with the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force practiced helocasting at the Red Beach training area, Jan. 30.
The event was a part of Exercise Iron Fist 2012, a bilateral training event with the Japanese, designed to increase interoperability between the two services. A staff officer is a military officer who serves on the commander's staff, working in a particular field and is responsible to the unit commander for tasks that fall under their specialty.
