United States service members, and 15 NATO nations, are fully integrated for an 11-day training exercise, conducted at the Grafenwoehr Training Area, known as Allied Strike 11.

Outside gate one of the Grafenwoehr Training Area, down a cobble stone streets, just past the bridge, the community park is busy with families playing. There sits a beige stone building. Inside the building is a man with the story of how the friendship between GTA and the town of Grafenwoehr became as strong as it is today.

She hooks the static line onto the cable. The safety gives it a sharp tug to ensure it is secure. Hours of preparation have led to this moment. Her heart is thumping loudly against her chest. The doors open and the sound of the plane’s engine and air passing over the wings roars inside the C-130 Hercules.
