9/11 lead me to service In commemoration of the 10 year anniversary of Sept. 11, the website www.911day.org is encouraging citizens to give back service to their community in honor of those who gave their lives serving others that day. In addition to the police and firefighters who put their duty above all else, ordinary people became extraordinary heroes. As the anniversary approached, I wondered what I could do to give back. I hadn’t realized that my service had been 10 years in the making. 09.11.11 Story by Sgt. Erica Knight
