Images | Joint Service Open House 2009 at Andrews Air Force Base

Dozens of aircraft from yesterday, today and tomorrow, repair and rescue vehicles, and static military and civilian displays greeted the thousands of visitors to the flight line at Andrews Air Force Base May 15-17 with the 2009 Joint Service Open House, an event showing off the outstanding work done by members of the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines and Navy. Hosted by the 316th Wing, the JSOH featured exciting demonstrations of aerial U.S. weapons systems, civilian aircraft stunt flying and an amazing performance by the Air Force Thunderbirds, an F-16 aerial acrobatic team. Honorees at the event included the Golden Knights parachute team, and outstanding non-commissioned officers from different service branches selected to receive awards. | http://www.dvidshub.net/?script=images/images_gallery.php&action=viewimage&fid=172451

News Story | Military medicine keeping it real with make-up and mannequins

Fort Gordon, Ga.— Over 150 key players in this year's Golden Medic field exercise wait to spring into action when the mass casualty medical exercise kicks off in a few days. They rest quietly—very quietly— in their Fort Gordon, Ga., quarters, tightly packed into basic, no-frills Army housing. When a young soldier inflicts a gaping head wound on one of their colleagues, no-one flinches. Maybe their unshakable resolve comes from years of working alongside America's hardened fighters. Maybe their blank, glassy stares tell the story of soldiers who have seen too much...or maybe it's just their cold, plastic hearts. | http://www.dvidshub.net/?script=news/news_show.php&id=10900
