A nurse working for the VA Hudson Valley Health Care System is the first recipient locally of the DAISY Award. Suzanne Rossi-Gilman received the award July 31. The award is sponsored by the DAISY Foundation in Memory of J. Patrick Barnes. Rossi-Gilman distinguished herself in a number of areas, including being a team leader on evening shifts, developing and implementing education groups, and her work with one particular Veteran to help recover from illness. More than 1,700 healthcare facilities in all 50 states and 11 other countries present nurses with the DAISY Award.
