News Stories Teamwork gets vets work & services
Pfc. Chris Goula was looking for a job when he arrived at Clackamas Community College in Oregon City, Ore., Nov. 19, and was visibly excited to be making solid contact with interested employers after being frustrated during his recent employment search. After returning from Iraq last year and working a variety of construction jobs in the past, Goula said he has been having a difficult time finding work.

Job Corps cadets serve aboard Portland District dredges Yaquina and Essayons as part of their training in the Seamanship Training Program at Tongue Point Job Corps Center, Astoria. The program teaches maritime rules and regulations, sea survival, deck and engine room equipment and operations, and galley cook training. When their training is complete the cadets have the knowledge and experience to earn the U. S. Coast Guard qualified rating for merchant mariner credentials.

Oregon Army National Guard Soldiers from the 3 Battalion, 116th Cavalry Brigade based in LaGrande, Ore., were welcomed home during their de-mobilization ceremony, Oct. 8, at Eastern Oregon University. The soldiers deployed to Iraq in support of Operation New Dawn.
