North Dakota National Guard biathletes win regional competition The North Dakota National Guard biathlon team entered this weekend’s regional competition with a bit of pessimism. A few of the team’s top biathletes couldn’t attend, and two others left after the first day’s race to compete overseas. Nevertheless, the success of recent years continued, and the team pulled off a win at the Central Region Biathlon Competition at Mt. Itasca, near Grand Rapids, Minn. Soldier to return after serving 29 months in Kosovo After deploying with Kosovo Force 12 in August 2009, the North Dakota National Guard's Sgt. Josh Dodds is returning to North Dakota after a 29-month deployment. Dodds, of Grand Forks, N.D., has spent the past two years serving as part of the NATO peacekeeping operations after volunteering to extend his original Kosovo deployment. North Dakota soldiers treated as VIPs, Meet WWE’s ‘Big Show’ Pfc. Jon Hunter hasn’t missed a WWE show since he was 4 years old. Even when his parents said no, he’d find a way to watch, he says. When the new North Dakota Army National Guard soldier found out he’d have the chance to not only get good seats for this past weekend’s WWE World Tour at the FargoDome, but also have a chance to meet one of the show’s stars, he was ecstatic. North Dakota Guard launches this year's record-breaking mentoring program On Tuesday, the North Dakota National Guard's Developing Leaders Mentoring Program will mark a record-breaking year, as the number of people who have signed up to participate has more than doubled. With 19 pairs or 38 individuals from across the state joining in this mentoring program, it is the highest number of people to ever participate since the inception of the program in 2007. Land Component Command gets new leadership The North Dakota National Guard’s Land Component Command welcomed a new leader today when the current commander retired after 34 years of military service. Brig. Gen. William “Bill” Seekins relinquished command to Col. David Anderson at the Guard's Raymond J. Bohn Armory. The LCC is the Army component of the N.D.
