Since World War II, the spirit of the Soldiers from the 1st Brigade Combat Team, both old and new, has been embodied through one individual. The spirit within the individual captivated Soldiers, boosted their moral and encouraged esprit de corps. This individual is known as the Bastogne Bulldog.

[3] Strike Blitz
Just prior to Soldiers of Company A, 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, entering an Afghan village, previous coalition forces were overrun by enemy Taliban fighters during a very complex attack. The anti-coalition and anti-Afghan national forces moved in and took over the village. This created a pro-Taliban mindset among the people.

[15] A different kind of mission
Fort Knox's 3rd Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) has deployed before, but never like this. The 3rd ESC completed a 15-month deployment to Iraq in August 2009. Now, the unit is in Haiti. The command's Soldiers didn't expect to be deployed again so soon, but Haiti's, Jan. 12, earthquake changed all that.
