FORT BRAGG, N.C. – Col. Carl E. Phillips handed command of the 4th Military Information Support Group (Airborne) to Col. Reginald J. Bostick in a ceremony Aug. 3 on Meadows Field at the U.S. Army Special Operations Command headquarters.FORT BRAGG, N.C. (USASOC News Service, Aug. 4, 2011) – Col. Carl E. Phillips handed command of the 4th Military Information Support Group (Airborne) to Col. Reginald J. Bostick in a ceremony Aug. 3, on Meadows Field at the U.S. Army Special Operations Command headquarters.

Col. Reginald Bostick, the 4th MISG commander, passed the battalion colors to the new battalion commander, Lt. Col. Lee Evans.

In a speech after the passing the colors, Evens reminded everyone that the activation of a battalion was a special occasion which is a snapshot in time that is a, "constant reminder of the past while operating in the present and looking forward to the future."

The mission of the 7th Battalion will be different from the 3rd MRBC, as it supports Special Forces missions in Africa, which includes more than 50 countries. Evans said that he and his Soldiers, "will meet the challenges with audacious professionalism."

Those challenges were identified by Bostick after passing the responsibility on to Evans. He pointed out that the 53 countries in Africa have vast and diverse ethnic and cultural differences that will demand that the 7th Battalion be, "adaptive and innovative," in their approach to their new mission.

The 7th Battalion is the third and final battalion organized under the 4th MISG and has a mission to deploy to the African area of responsibility on short notice and plan, develop and conduct MISO in support of the unified commanders, coalition forces and other government agencies.
