FORT HOOD, Texas - A groundbreaking ceremony for a new Candlewood Suites hotel on Fort Hood will take place at 10 a.m. Nov. 15 on 761st Tank Battalion Avenue adjacent to Bldg. 194, Phantom Warrior Center.

The hotel development is part of the Privatization of Army Lodging (PAL) program, an Army-led program established as a means to revitalize on-post lodging facilities for soldiers, their families and all government travelers.

Lend Lease is the developer for the PAL program, which includes the renovation and development of more than 8,000 hotel rooms on 21 U.S. military installations throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) is the hotel operator. Lend Lease assumed operations of Fort Hood’s on-post lodging in August 2009 and opened the Holiday Inn Express on Fort Hood in November 2010.

Selected for its extended-stay hotel model, the new 93-room Candlewood Suites on Fort Hood will feature a variety of amenities tailored to meet the needs of military travelers including spacious studios and one-bedroom suites, fully-equipped kitchens and large work areas in each guest room, a swimming pool, a 24-hour Candlewood Cupboard for food and beverages, business and fitness centers, guest laundry facilities, and complimentary hot breakfast served daily.

Scheduled for completion in late 2013, the Candlewood Suites on Fort Hood is the fourth new hotel to break ground under the PAL program since May 2012.

Media wishing to cover the ground breaking ceremony should register here. Media should meet at the Fort Hood visitor’s center south-side parking lot by 9:30 a.m.
