BELLE CHASSE, La. – The commanding general of the 377th Theater Sustainment Command will preside over a mass enlistment ceremony in Downtown New Orleans as part of the Louisiana Bicentennial Military Parade at 3 p.m., Nov. 10, 2012.
Maj. Gen. Peter S. Lennon will administer the Oath of Enlistment at the National World War II Museum. More than 150 recruits from all services will take the oath to begin their military service. The enlistment ceremony caps off the Bicentennial Military Parade which honors past, present and future service members from all branches. As part of the parade, a veteran will also carry the recovered World War II ID tag of a Louisiana soldier to the National WWII Museum.
It was discovered last August in France and will become part of a permanent exhibit at the museum.
The Bicentennial Military Parade is part of a yearlong celebration commemorating Louisiana’s 200 years of statehood. More than 1,200 service members will participate in the parade that will roll through the French Quarter and the Warehouse District. Maj. Gen. Lennon took command of the 377th TSC last May. It’s the largest command in the U.S. Army Reserve with more than 36,000 soldiers in 38 states. He’ll administer the oath of enlistment at the end of the parade.
