Alabama Brig. Gen. Hoover receives second star

FORT MCCLELLAN, Ala. – The Alabama Army National Guard’s 167th Theater Sustainment Command held a promotion ceremony for Brig. Gen. Reynold N. Hoover, commanding general of the 167th Theater Sustainment Command, on Sept. 8, 2012. The ceremony took place at the 167th TSC drill hall at 2 p.m. in Fort McClellan, Ala.

Hoover was recently promoted to Major General and officially “pinned” new rank effective July 27, 2012 during the ceremony.

Maj. Gen. Perry G. Smith, adjutant general of the Alabama National Guard, administered the Oath of Office and presented Hoover his new flag. The Army authorizes individual flags to those who warrant them by virtue of their office. The United States Army has incorporated the use of flags to signify the presence of a general Officer.

Smith decorated Hoover with the Legion of Merit. The Legion of Merit is a military decoration of the United States Armed Forces that is awarded for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding service and achievements.

Hoover has served as Commanding General of the 167th Theater Sustainment Command since early this year assuming command on Jan. 8, 2012.

Hoover commissioned into the Regular Army in May 1983 through the United States Military Academy at West Point.
