HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – The Arkansas Army National Guard is currently supporting the Arkansas Forestry Commission in fighting multiple wildfires across the state.

The Camp Robinson based Army Aviation Support Facility and 77th Theater Aviation Brigade initially staged two UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters in Hot Springs early on the Fourth of July. The helicopters are equipped with buckets capable of dropping 660 gallons of water with each pass.

To date, the soldiers have completed 70 missions by dropping over 50,000 gallons of water over fires across five counties: Boone, Clark, Dallas, Drew, and Pope.

The mission is anticipated to continue through the weekend.
