MARINE CORPS AIR STATION YUMA, Ariz. –Six City of Yuma employees were recognized for their superior support of Marine Corps Air Station Yuma's Exercise Desert Fire on June 6, 2012 at Yuma City Hall.
MCAS Yuma partners with city, county and federal government and non-government agencies to conduct multiagency emergency response exercises throughout the year to improve interoperability and test the capabilities of first responders.
All award recipients performed duties as Public Information Officers for the city and acted as either mock media or covered the exercise for training purposes.
"Although we cannot foresee when emergencies will occur, conducting realistic training helps the air station and the City of Yuma strengthen its rapid response capabilities. I'm very appreciative of the volunteer efforts of the awardees and know that when a crisis occurs, the station and city are in good hands," said Capt. Staci Reidinger, MCAS Yuma Public Affairs Officer.
