ROGERS, Ark. – Beginning June 11, the Army Corps of Engineers Beaver Lake Project Office duty ranger will be available from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. By manning the office fewer days each week, the duty ranger will spend more time in the field.

The duty ranger’s role is to answer questions and coordinate private boat dock and shoreline use permits. Reducing the days the duty ranger spends in the office each week is one of several steps Beaver Lake officials are taking to reduce spending yet continue to provide quality benefits to taxpayers.

Funding for Little Rock District was reduced by $17 million this fiscal year. These reductions affected the corps’ Beaver Lake, which trimmed expenses by not filling a vacant permanent duty ranger position and not hiring one temporary park ranger.

Beaver Lake provides flood risk management, hydropower, water supply, recreation, and fish and wildlife benefits. For more information, contact Michael Richards at 479-636-1210, ext. 1717.
