TARIN KOT, Afghanistan - Afghan National Police and Australian Federal Police conducted a transfer of control ceremony at the newly finished ANP Provincial Training Center, Tarin Kot, Afghanistan, June 7, 2012.
The PTC is located at Multinational Base Tarin Kot.
With the new facility, ANP officers will have better facilities to train
current officers and better their professional development.
"We have officially finished construction and handed over control of the facilities to the ANP," said Nasi Laveta, the superintendent with
Australian Federal Police, "and today marks the completion of the
project."
Funded by the AFP and costing approximately 300,000 Australian Dollars, the project commenced in February. Now finished, the facility has expanded housing, a stronger infrastructure, and larger classrooms.
Within the classrooms, ANP officers take literacy and professional
non-commissioned officer development classes.
"Before, we didn't have this kind of facility. Now we have the room for more students and more instructors," said Afghan National Police Col. Dil Agha, the PTC commander.
The building was done as part of the re-locatable building project.The objective of which, was to increase the training size and capacity of the Provincial Training Center.
"I am very thankful to have these facilities and not only have more
buildings, but be able to hold better quality training," said Agha.
With better facilities to train in, the ANP will be better able to help
the local populace and provide a safe and stable environment.
"I'm very pleased to be able to hand this facility over to the Afghans and am happy to have overseen the completion of this project from the very beginning," said Laveta.
