ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. — U.S. Army NHRA Racing Top Fuel drivers Tony "The Sarge" Schumacher and Antron Brown will start fourth and ninth, respectively, in Sunday's Toyota NHRA SuperNationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, N.J., June 4.
Schumacher and Brown will take the lead of their Army Strong soldiers and try to not accept defeat during round nine of the 23-race NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series.
Schumacher, who is seeking his first victory of the season, will confront 13th-place qualifier Terry McMillen in the opening round of final eliminations beginning at 11 a.m. EDT.
"It's time to get down to business," Schumacher said. "We had two great days of qualifying, but race day is a whole different animal. We're prepared to go into battle."
The Chicago-area resident is looking to break a 31-race winless streak which dates back to the 2010 fall Las Vegas event.
"We're primed to get that done for sure," Schumacher said. "We have a good racecar and there's no reason we can't be in victory lane tomorrow."
Brown put together a couple of good runs during final qualifying, but was still bumped down a position to ninth. He will face eighth-place qualifier Doug Kalitta in the first round of competition.
"We're going to be just fine," Brown said. "We have to go out and do our deal and not worry about anything or anyone else. Like Tony, we also have a great racecar so I'm confident about our chances tomorrow."
A Chesterfield, N.J., native, Brown would love to hoist a Top Fuel trophy in front of a plethora of family and friends who have been at the track since he hit town, June 1.
"That's for certain," Brown said. "It would be a great experience to win the race and then share it with all of those folks. We can definitely accomplish that task."
