KANDAHAR PROVINCE, Afghanistan – Fifty Afghan Local Police graduated in a ceremony attended by soldiers in the 3rd Kandak, 205th Afghan National Army Corps and the Bagh-E-Pol Afghan National Police.
The ceremony was held at Combat Outpost Senjaray, Jan. 3. The new ALP were presented with their graduation certificates, and ALP badges by Zharay district leaders.
Following the ceremony, International Security Assistance Forces, Afghan National Security Forces, and local Afghan leaders moved to the new police substation administrative building in Senjaray. District Gov. Naiz Surhadi addressed the community and then cut the ribbon, officially opening the new building.
The new building was built by the ANSF and ISAF and will serve the community in Senjaray well. It is strategically positioned to provide the local Afghans with a venue to address security concerns and to prevent insurgents from interacting with the people. The local ANP will also benefit from the new building because many of them will be working and living in the new station.
After the opening of the new ANP building, the group moved to the Senjaray Bazaar where the DG spoke and leaders participated in a groundbreaking ceremony. Officials hope the local economy will benefit from the new bazaar. Local laborers were the first to benefit, as they were employed for the refurbishment project.
